Removed the legacy “meta keywords” markup from every page. It was ignored by search engines and did nothing for you.
Renamed the paint calculator page so its title stops competing in search with the “how much paint do I need” guide — two different pages, two different jobs.
Reworked calculator inputs: proper number-field semantics for screen readers, keyboard steppers, inline validation, and your last-used units and values are remembered between visits.
Rebuilt the result panel — the answer now leads and counts up, the waste factor is explained rather than hidden, and the animation is skipped if you have reduced motion turned on.
Reset the design foundations: new type scale, colour tokens checked for contrast, and consistent motion rules.
Went through all seven calculators and their guides one material at a time — concrete, gravel, topsoil, paint, mulch, drywall and flooring — correcting wording, defaults and edge cases in each.
Widened the guide reading column and tinted each answer and callout card from the guide’s own photo, so long guides are easier to read.
Fixed a truncated description on the gravel guide and reworked the guide answer box into a proper editorial lead.
Moved the calculators to shorter URLs under /calculators/.
Added header images to all 24 guides, redesigned the guide hero as a title-overlay banner, and widened the page shell.
Reorganised navigation: a calculators index, guide categories, a clearer mobile header, and a three-column footer.
Removed the empty ad placeholder boxes that were taking up space without showing anything.
Published guides for concrete, gravel, mulch, topsoil and flooring, bringing the library to 24 articles.
Published the first drywall guides and rebuilt the guides system so it could cover every material, not just paint.
Darkened the muted grey text so it meets WCAG AA contrast against the background.
Sped up first paint: stylesheets are inlined instead of render-blocking, the homepage hero image is prioritised, and analytics/ad scripts are deferred.
Fixed a canonical-URL mismatch that made pages redirect: page URLs now consistently end in a trailing slash.
Added quick-start presets to every calculator, so a typical room or slab is one tap away.
Results now include a materials checklist and a rough cost range alongside the quantity.
Launched the first knowledge hub, covering paint.
Launched the flooring calculator — the seventh tool on the site.
Fixed calculator fields that stayed on screen after they should have been hidden, and a concrete shape selector that wrapped badly on narrow screens.
Added the privacy policy, terms of use, advertising disclosure, contact and about pages.
The paint calculator now works from room dimensions instead of a raw square-footage box, with an explicit choice of what you are painting (room, walls or ceiling).
The site launched with six calculators: concrete, gravel, mulch, paint, topsoil and drywall.
